In the beginning…

I am Thee Church Jawn.

I am apart of an elite group of Believers who were born and raised in a church and has never left. The heart of my upbringing has been spent in the Love Zion Baptist Church in beautiful North Philadelphia. My grandmother was an original charter member when it was first formed in 1984 and our family has been members ever since. As the third generation of my family represented in my church, my fellowship at Love Zion means more to me than most.

During my 34 years as a member I’ve seen it ALL. I have been a part of almost every ministry, attended all the church anniversaries and has seen my church through all the phases of a growing ministry . I’ve experienced my first crush in church and my first bully. I grew to appreciate the “church family” structure and the importance of fellowship. I was raised hearing my grandmother and the other Mothers of the church on the prayer line every morning before heading out to school. My upbringing was special. It was beautiful. It was everything I needed to survive adulthood.

I appreciate my beginnings in the church and my early walk with Christ. I feel as if I got a head start on understanding who God is and how much He loves us. Entering my adult years I might not have stuck to His plan completely but I never forgot His words and promises. Those reminders kept me during the worst parts of adulthood and solidified His position in my life.

In this beginning, I pray this space becomes a beacon of hope and understanding and be a place where I can share my love of Jesus and the joy of Kingdom building.
